Hello everyone... excuse me for not writing for a little while but I promise this entry will be a good one! This past Friday 3 of my roommates and I headed to the Island of Capri after class in the afternoon. We packed our small traveling bags for the weekend, typical for train traveling and took the train from Rome to Naples. I would recommend if you never have to travel through or to Naples, don't do it. It was one of the dirtiest cities I had ever seen, I guess you had to put into affect they had just had a huge garbage strike not to long ago. When we arrived to Naples we had to find the Ferry to take to Capri quite a task, let me tell you and the schedule was quite confusing so we didn't end up leaving Naples until around 9 Friday night on the ferry. When we arrived in Capri that night around 10 it was so beautiful, even at night. We were greeted by many taxis which were cute, funky convertibles, prefect to cruise around the island in. We arrived to our hotel, Villa Eva that evening ready for a good nights sleep.
The next morning we had an amazing breakfast poolside and a great cappuccino. Saturday we went to the little town of Anacapri and did some shopping and took the chair lift to the top of the mountain to look out on an amazing panorama of the surrounding islands. It was probably one of the most beautiful sights I had ever seen. When then took the chair lift down and proceeded to hike down 952 stairs.... AHHH! to the bottom of Anacapri to the beach I swear my calf muscles were spasming the whole way down lol! Once we reached the beach with a sigh of relief we swam and tanned on the pebble beach. On Saturday night after getting ready we took the bus to Capri and had an amazing dinner at the top of the bell tower in the center of the village. For dinner I had a delicacy we might all know as SQUID yes grilled squid which was actually quite delicious. After dinner we found a gelato place which had the best gelato I have had so far during my stay in Italy. The night was a success but yet again I was ready for a good nights sleep.
On Sunday morning we decided to take the bus to the Blue Grotto which is one of the main attractions on the Island of Capri. Unfortunately because of the unfortunate rough seas this weekend we were not able to go into the grotto : ( We did however see the entrance which is a 3' by 3' cave that by the looks of it I would not have entered that day anyway. The waves were definitely crashing a little to violently on the rock face for me to dare try entering the cave. The water was a blue that I had never seen before unlike the Caribbean, it was a deep blue that was just amazing. After the Blue Grotto we traveled to Capri for some shopping and of coarse more gelato from the night before. After a successful day of shopping we decided to take the advice from previous visitors to the Island of Capri and go to the Restaurante Il Cucciollo. It was the best meal I have ever had and a blast... wine, bruschetta, pasta and some lemoncello what more could someone ask for ha! It was great and the atmosphere was amazing, looking out on the ocean from a cliff top and surrounded by complete vegetation! Our last night in Capri was everything I had hoped it would be. Monday we had breakfast and hopped on the bus/ferry/train home to Roma, I can't believe I am really calling Rome my home now wow!! My trip to Capri was breath taking and I would recommend it to anyone traveling to Italy! I hope I didn't bore you to much, I just couldn't help but share this amazing experience with you all! I promise the next one won't be so long! Miss you and Love you Ciao!!!
